 Drake planning on being “extremely selective” with artists signed to OVO Sound, says Kendrick Lamar isn’t “murdering” him on “Control.”

 Few rappers have taken the solitary approach when it concerns Kendrick Lamar’s celebrated verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” but according to Canadian singer/rapper Drake, he simply “kept it moving” after hearing K-Dot’s raucous verse. As part of a cover story for Billboard magazine, Drake spoke on the record numerous rappers have either responded to lyrically or voiced their opinion on via Twitter or in various media interviews. The Young Money wordsmith went on to describe Kendrick’s verse as “an ambitious thought” and expressed his belief that the TDE rapper didn’t outdo him in any way.

Lamar Odom Arrested For Driving Under The Influence; To Appear In Court In 4 Weeks.

Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom’s problems continue to pile up, as he was arrested in Carlifonia for driving under the influence of alcohol. Huffington Post reports that the NBA player was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on a freeway in the San Fernando Valley for driving too slowly at 3:54 a.m. on Aug. 30, according to TMZ. CHP officials told the Los Angeles Times that Odom was spotted early Friday morning driving a white Mercedes SUV in a “serpentine manner” around 50 mph. Authorities attempted to pull him over, but he kept driving. When they eventually stopped him, Odom showed “objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as explained and demonstrated.” Odom was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to jail in Van Nuys. He refused all chemical tests, the Los Angeles Times reported. TMZ reports he is currently being held on $15,000 bail. CBSLA notes it is unclear if he has posted bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 27, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department report. The arrest comes after news surfaced that Odom has allegedly been struggling with drug addiction. TMZ previously reported that he went missing for 72 hours and friends and family are concerned about him. The substance abuse has reportedly also taken a toll on his marriage to Khloe Kardashian.

This early morning didn't this driver know that he was going to come out today to make some money for his upkeep and that of his family, if he has one shaa, can't drivers for once try to take care of their buses in other to prevent things from happening..

This very morning in Lagos around "Jakonde round about island" their was a little burst among two drivers in which they were dragging for a particular lane on the road but unfortunately a little accident occurred that period, so there was a little demonstration and yes i came to find out that the back wind screen of the first driver is out of place and so some passengers decided to act by fighting from that angle without reasoning that they were on the road, passerby who knew them could just be looking at them but i guess they didn't reason that at all, we are all different when it comes down to reasoning but let us just for once try and take things easy and yes a very good source was their when it all happened.

Football: Champions League draw-Real Madrid face Juventus, Barcelona meet AC Milan once again

Nine-time European champions Real Madrid have been paired with Juventus in the pick of Thursday afternoon's Champions League draw in Monaco.

Carlo Ancelotti's men and the current Serie A champions, who met in the final in 1998, have been joined by Galatasaray and Copenhagen in Group B.

Barcelona and AC Milan will resume rivalries again after meeting four times in the last three seasons, with Lionel Messi inspiring the Blaugrana to a memorable comeback at the last 16 stage last time round. Joining them in an intriguing Group H is Ajax and Celtic.

Genevieve Nnaji Named As Judge On Miss Earth Beauty Pageant

Actress Genevieve Nnaji will become a guest judge at the 2013 Miss Earth Nigeria.
The Nollywood star was recently announced alongside other international stars such as Austrian-born actor and former model, Boris Kodjoe, Amber Rose, Karly Redd and Kelechi Amadi Obi.

According to NET, Director of the Nigerian arm of Miss Earth International, Ibinabo Fiberesima said: "This year's edition would be different because we are currently in talks with top dignitaries who are passionate about the environment and the earth at large"

Director Fiberesima, a former beauty queen and current President of the Actors' Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has been co-ordinating the pageant for about a decade now.Nollywood actress, Ufuoma Ejenobor is a product of the pageant, as she had completed and won the crown in 2004 before entering the movie industry.

The eventual winner will represent Nigeria at the World Miss Earth Pageant in the United States later in the year.

Dangote shops for $3.3bn to finance $9bn refinery

Dangote Group said, yesterday, it will borrow $3.3 billion to build a $9 billion oil refinery and petrochemical complex.  The Nigerian group, with interests ranging from cement to oil and gas, also said it was seeking a further $2.25 billion from development funds for the project, into which it would put $3.5 billion of its own equity.  The loan will be signed with financiers on September 4, it said in statement. Owner of the group, Aliko Dangote, divulged plans for the refinery in April.  The Dangote Group makes up 30 percent of Nigeria’s bourse.  Dangote told Reuters then that the refinery will have a capacity of around 400,000 barrels a day by late 2016, almost doubling Nigeria’s refining capacity.  “We are not resting on our oars,” group spokesman, Anthony Chiejina said, adding that the complex, including petrochemical and fertilizer plants, “could be the single largest contribution to this government’s economic transformation agenda.”  Nigeria currently has the capacity to produce some 445,000 barrels per day among four refineries, but they operate below that, owing to decades of mismanagement.  Nigeria relies on subsidised imports for 80 percent of fuel needs.  Dangote says the refinery will still be profitable, although industry experts say that would only be the case if the government guarantees crude supplies at well below the market rate— or subsidises his end-product.

News: 50,000 Candidates for Yabatech’s post UTME

At least 50, 000 candidates have so far applied for the 2013/2014 post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) test in the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos.  The Head of the institution’s Public Relations Unit, Mr Adekunle Adams, gave the figure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday.  Adams said that the application would end on August 30, disclosing  that the test would hold on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.

Breaking News: ASUU rejects FG offers says strike must continue

Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday, rejected. the N130 billion the Federal Government disbursed into the university system, as part of efforts to persuade striking lecturers to call off the strike which began on July 2.  In a letter written to Head of National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy, NEEDs Assessment, and Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswan, by President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge. The union insisted that based on the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement and the January 2012 Memoranda of Understanding, MoU, signed by both parties, what was due for 2012 and 2013 was N500 billion, not N100 billion.  The letter read: “We observe that the Committee is so far mentioning only N100 billion. If the implementation is to be related to the funding requirements in the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement and the Jan 2012 MoU, what is due for 2012 and 2013 is N500 billion not N100 billion. Only the provision of this sum will meet the immediate needs of the universities.

THE Federal Government’s patience seems to have run out with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as it has decided to wield the big stick on its members threatening to invoke the no-work-no-pay policy to force the striking lecturers back to work.  Secretary to Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, on Friday ordered the striking university lecturers to return to their duty posts while the pending issues werebeing resolved. He also directed all the governing councils of the various universities to open the gates of the institutions to students as from next week.  The directives followed the inability of both parties (FG and ASUU) to reach a definite agreement on the issue earned allowances to university workers after about two months of dialogue and negotiations and the threat bythe union to discontinue talks with government.

Akindele made this ugly development known through her management company, Tofarati Ige of Entertainment Media Limited, during the week.  A statement made available to HVP reads thus: “The attention of the management of star actress, Funke Akindele, has been drawn to the fraudulent act by some criminals who had opened a fake Facebook account in her name to extort unsuspecting individuals and fans.”  “The criminals had used Funke Akindele’s name to open the account and demanded for payment from  unsuspecting members of the public to participate in movie productions and promotional campaign with offers of a wide range of prizes including Laptops, TV sets and other consumer products.”

‘’We wish to state that the actress, who has a genuine account, will not demand money from anyone to take part in her movie productions or to run her school. Bonafide students of the school pay only to the school’s account and not her personal account.”
