Football: Ribery: Super Cup for Pep

The winger added another medal to his CV on Friday night and believes the club's latest success is a massive boost for their new coach
Frank Ribery dedicated Bayern Munich's Super Cup win over Chelsea to Pep Guardiola after the Bavarians emerged 5-4 victors on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the end of extra time. The Blues took the lead through Fernando Torres but Ribery's second-half strike saw the game head into extra time, where Eden Hazard's goal looked to have sealed the win for Jose Mourinho's side.

But Javi Martinez intervened with the last kick of the game to take the match to penalties and Romelu Lukaku's miss handed the trophy to Bayern, after David Alaba, Toni Kroos, Philipp Lahm, Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri had all converted from 12 yards.

The Frenchman said: "We fought until the last minute. It's a well-deserved success for Bayern. The victory is also important for Pep."I have a super relationship with Guardiola. It was an extraordinary moment when I rushed over to him [after scoring].

"I told him this is a goal for you, against Mourinho."
