Football: FIFA Warns NFF Over Security Breaches
FIFA has warned the Nigeria Football Federation against security breaches during Super Eagles matches at U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Malawi FA had complained to the world football governing body about what it described as security fears in Calabar in the run-up to the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Group F final qualifier defeat to the Super Eagles last weekend.
But FIFA on Thursday dispatched a mail to the NFF expressing worries over what it termed as security lapses during the encounter against Malawi, pointing out that such shortcomings should be redressed in the upcoming games.
"FIFA takes exceptions to security lapses during matches when important government functionaries like the governor or the traditional ruler of the city (Calabar) enters the stadium," FIFA noted in the mail.
"Security details of the government officials causing disorder at the state box is unacceptable and should be redressed." FIFA was however silent on the complaints by Kenya and Malawi on the quality of hotel accommodation provided for them during their visits
