Cowell is expecting his first child with his new girlfriend Lauren Silverman, who was wed to his friend Andrew Silverman.
The pair have sparked speculation they might make their romance more official now Lauren and Andrew are officially over, with Simon apparently already mapping out their special day.
The 54-year-old star is especially keen for his mother Julie, 87, to have some input as she has always wanted to see him tie the knot.
“Simon’s mum has always dreamt of the day Simon settles down with one woman and he’s determined for her to be a big part of the day,” an insider explained to British newspaper The Sun.
It’s thought the couple will exchange vows at a church in Sussex, UK, which is where Simon’s family live.
Although he is known for his lavish lifestyle, he apparently wants to keep the wedding intimate. That means there won’t be a host of A-listers attending, with his ex-girlfriend Sinitta and Topshop mogul Sir Philip Green expected to be two of the few celebrities invited.
As Lauren is from the US, there will also be a blessing in America so her friends can celebrate too.
The couple’s new arrival will be a boy, with claims Simon wants to name him Eric in honour of his late father.
At the moment it’s unknown where the couple will raise their son, with suggestions Simon might split his time between the UK and US.
“Simon knows it makes sense to have a home in New York – it’s where Lauren and her seven-year-old son are based,” an insider recently claimed.
